Alice and her sister Libby came to us from a truly horrible neglect situation in late 2018. You see, Alice and her sister were found chained in the back of an abandoned rental property in Fort Valley. They had clearly been used to make puppies, probably for sale. Their owners, to use the term as loosely as possible, had abandoned them when he left the rental property. Alice and Libby were both terrified when they came to us. They had clearly had zero medical care and bare minimum human contact.

Now, however, after many months of love and patience, Alice and Libby both are noticeably coming into their own personalities and relaxing. They have received medical care and are up-to-date on their needs, and have filled out nicely with good food. Alice is 40 pounds. Both Alice and Libby are on the hunt for their forever homes, either together or separately.

She took to having a soft bed and a full food bowl like a duck to water. It has truly been gratifying to watch her progress over the last few months. Alice enjoys her food with gusto and gets excited when she is inside the rescue’s buildings with other dogs around her. She picks up on the energy of those around her and excels when there is love and happiness proffered to her.

Alice is ready for the next steps in her life. She has come around beautifully! She is a maternal in nature, friendly, initially bashful, goofy, silly girl that can rock pearls and bathe in a pool of water all in the same half hour. She loves to play with her canine friends at the rescue, of which she has many, large and small. She is not averse to meeting new people, although she is very bashful about it initially. She is a gentle girl that is shy about learning new experiences, but does so anyway, sometimes when you’re not looking. Alice walks perfectly on a leash and seems to appreciate the idea that an adventure awaits her at the leash’s destination. While she does not enjoy riding in a car, she simply turns into a puddle of sadness in the backseat or her crate while on the ride.

Alice’s ideal home would include a family that understands her past trauma and knows that there is going to be teaching and patience involved in helping her heal from the wrong done to her. She will take a bit of time to realize that she is in a forever home, but once she does, we fully expect her to continue to bloom into the sweet rose that we know she is.
